EINDHOVEN AIRPORT

Eindhoven Airport is the second largest airport in the Netherlands. 5.7 million passengers used this airport in 2017. It is very far from Schipol, Holland’s best-known airport, which counted 68 million passengers during that same time period. Eindhoven airport has a single 3,000 meter long runway.

HISTORY: The airport was founded in 1932, becoming, in 1939, a military airport administered by the "Air Component of the Belgian Army" which is the current Air Force. During the Second World War it passed several times from hand to hand, being occupied first by the Germans and, later, by the Allied troops who recovered it in September 1944. It was during this period, when the infrastructure was considerably extended reaching 3 runways.
From the 1980s, the Eindhoven airport began to host civilian traffic. Even today, although it is used by numerous low cost airlines (Ryanair, WizzAir, Transavia, TUI), it is still considered as a base of the Royal Netherlands Air Force and is owned by the Ministry of Defense.

LOCATION AND CONNECTIONS: The airport is located just over 7 km from the city of Eindhoven and about 120 km from the city of Amsterdam. The nearby A2 motorway also allows you to reach Utrecht and Maastricht, as well as Amsterdam.
from Eindhoven Airport to Schiphol: the two airports are connected by a direct train, which takes approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes from the center of Eindhoven. To reach the centre of Eindhoven, you must add about 30 minutes to your journey time in order to carry out the connection via bus between the airport of Luchthavenweg and Eindhoven station.
In addition, the train connections with the center of Amsterdam departs from the Eindhoven central station, therefore, considering the time it takes for the shuttle connecting the station and the airport, the minimum total travel time is of 1 hour and 50 minutes, which is equivalent to the time that takes a bus to travel from Eindhoven to Amsterdam.

WI-FI: free wi-fi connection for all passengers is available inside the Terminal.
