The Iranian New Wave movement started in the 1960s with Hajir Darioush’s film Serpent’s Skin. Political movements led to the rise of the New Wave in Iran. Majid Majidi held its fort for the second wave (post-Islamic Revolution in 1979). His hopeful movies are personal and embedded and often steer the world from a child’s unalloyed outlook.
