Why you should join the Madness
We aren’t your typical party hostel — we want to show you an epic time by immersing you in the local culture and connecting you to the communities you’re exploring. Our socially responsible hostel has projects in Asia that directly supports the locals — building water wells, creating education funds, providing fair employment for our team, and so on — which we’ve found is the best way to effect change. Your stay with us contributes to these efforts.
Our story begins with three backpackers — Steve, Tom, and Alex — who came to Cambodia in 2010. They quickly fell in love with the country and its people, however, the good times they were having in Phnom Penh were contrasted by the poverty that they came face-to-face with each day. Wanting to do something to give back, they had the idea to create substantial, sustainable, and positive change in the country to help other travelers experience its wonder. People thought they were mad, dubbing them the “Mad Monkeys”.
And thus, Mad Monkey was born and has quickly expanded since. Starting in 2011 as a single hostel in Phnom Penh, travelers were drawn to the vibrant atmosphere and social responsibility at the core of the company. Today, Mad Monkey is one of the largest hostel companies in Asia, serving over 350,000 guests per year in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. We continue to rapidly grow as more hostels, property owners, and partners adopt Mad Monkey’s way of delivering a truly amazing customer experience with a social purpose.

Recently stayed at the Mad monkey in Cebu and had an amazing time, the rooms were clean and spacious and the activities at night were very lively, living up to the mad monkey name. All the staff members were very helpful and super friendly including but not only; Dan, Sanie and Christine. The whole crew were welcoming and helped with all queries i had about where to go and how to book things. Would recommend this hostel to anyone staying in Cebu and looking to have a good time!

Booked trip to waterfall through hostel as well as taxi/train to vang vieng - both well managed and surprisingly good prices :)Location is a bit of town so may be a bit quiet if you’re looking for a party hostel.

My friends and I had a great stay here, we even extended 2 nights. The staff were all very friendly and willing to help, especially Dem who was very accommodating and welcoming. The free bikes were a blessing as the main town is about a 20 min walk

A lively hostel in the middle of Cebu, a 20-30 minute walking distance from some of the city's tourist attractions and famous locations. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the beds comfortable, the rooms regularly cleaned and a welcomed AC cooling the rooms from the heat outside. The top of the hostel also offers a very fun bar with a variety of foods and beverages, plenty of fun activities for guests and a neat pool overlooking the nearby city.

MadMonkey Siargao was great.Travelled solo, 29yo aussie guy, chose this hostel because it's right next to a surf shop that can take you on boat tours, and a short drive to Cloud 9 break, but also because it's a party/social hostel so you can meet people.Overall, the hostel was really fantastic. Large king-single beds gave you heaps of space and very comfy, Aircon kept you cool, and the location was spot on.Besides the hostel itself, the people and staff there were exceptional, particularly party host Sir Jovan Bebs! Jovan was excellent, made everyone feel very welcome and looked after you in and out of the hostel. On more than one occasion I bumped into Jovan out in Siargao and he was always most welcoming and fun to hang with.I met a bunch of friends along the way, but MadMonkey became a default launchpad for later shenanigans, due to a combination of Sir Jovan Bebs' magic touch to a fine evening, plus happy our cocktails (6-8pm, plus different drinking activities on evenings) and nice food.Jovan and the rest of the team at MadMonkey were also very helpful with the info and things you need to know when in a new place, so thanks again to the team there for making my stay easy-peasy!Coming back to the food, you're not always sure where to go to get nice food in Siargao, but MadMonkey did provide some good quality stuff so you were never stuck feeling hungry.Overall I had a great time and if I'm back in Siargao I'm definitely going back to MadMonkey.Thank you Jovan Bebs and MadMonkey team for a great trip! Wouldn’t have stayed anywhere else in the island. Food was amazing especially the Chicken Halang-halang with mashed potatoes. Drinks suggested by Edwin gave me that good mood to party the night away! Every staff was accommodating, lovely and super friendly. That boat party tour was epic, one of the best days I spent on the island. Will definitely book my next stay in Siargao in Mad Monkey.
