Mike Clevinger

CWS Starting Pitcher #52

White Sox placed RHP Mike Clevinger on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 25, with right elbow inflammation.

Clevinger was scratched from Tuesday’s scheduled outing against the Blue Jays and will likely wind up facing an extended absence, especially given his lengthy injury history. There should be an update on the 33-year-old right-hander’s status at some point in the coming days.
Yandy Diaz

TB Third Baseman #2

Yandy Diaz is hitting second and playing first base versus the Athletics on Tuesday.

Diaz has 231 plate appearances thus far in 2024, and 223 of those have come in the leadoff spot. He’s hit just .254 with a .686 from that spot, however, so Tampa Bay will move the 32-year-old down a spot in the lineup. Richie Palacios is leading off and playing right field against Mitch Spence and the A’s on Tuesday.
Tyler O'Neill

BOS Right Fielder #17

Tyler O’Neill (knee) is not in the starting lineup against the Orioles on Tuesday.

O’Neill will miss his third straight game after being removed from Saturday’s game with right knee soreness. Rob Refsnyder is the designated hitter against Baltimore, and he’ll hit third against Grayson Rodriguez and the Orioles pitching staff.

ATL Center Fielder #23

Michael Harris II is hitting leadoff against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Harris will get the first crack at the leadoff spot with Ronald Acuña Jr. now out for the season with his torn ACL. With Harris in the leadoff spot, he has the chance to be driven in by Austin Riley, Matt Olson and a plethora of other quality hitters in the Atlanta lineup. There’s a lot to like about this situation, outside of the bummer that is the Acuña Jr. injury.
Lars Nootbaar

STL Right Fielder #21

Lars Nootbaar (hamstring) is hitting second and playing right field against the Reds on Tuesday.

Nootbaar was scratched from the lineup Sunday with tightness in his hamstring, but the outfielder looked fine in pre-game workouts and is ready to roll for the tilt against Cincinnati.
Kodai Senga

NYM Starting Pitcher #34

Kodai Senga (shoulder) played catch on the field prior to the doubleheader against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

It’s the first time that Senga has been able to play catch since he was shut down with inflammation in his triceps. The right-hander has been on the 60-day injured list since the start of the season because of shoulder issues, and the expectation now is that Senga won’t be able to return for the Mets — and fantasy players — until around the All-Star break.
Evan Phillips

LAD Relief Pitcher #59

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Evan Phillips (hamstring) has a good chance to return to the Dodgers on Friday.

Phillips has looked the part in his rehab appearances as he works his way back from the hamstring injury that has sidelined the stopper since May 5. Once back on the roster, there’s every reason to believe that Phillips will receive the bulk of the save chances for Los Angeles, with Daniel Hudson and the rest of the Los Angeles bullpen serving as a bridge to Phillips.
Shohei Ohtani

LAD Designated Hitter #17

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Ohtani won’t start the second game of the doubleheader Tuesday against the Mets.

Ohtani will get a rare day off in the second game of the twin-billing. With the 29-year-old superstar out, the Dodgers will have Will Smith as the designated hitter and Austin Barnes will get the start behind the plate.
Martin Perez

PIT Starting Pitcher #54

Pirates placed LHP Martin Pérez on the 15-day injured list with a left groin strain.

As expected, Pérez will miss at least two weeks while he deals with the groin injury that caused him to leave his start Sunday versus Atlanta. Pittsburgh didn’t add a pitcher as the corresponding transaction, but they’ll need to make a move to replace the southpaw in the rotation. Quinn Priester is likely that arm.
Joey Bart

PIT Catcher #14

Pirates placed C Joey Bart on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb injury.

Bart was removed from Sunday’s game against Atlanta with the thumb injury, and the Pirates are concerned enough to place the 27-year-old on the injured list. He’ll miss at least a week — with a more concrete timeline likely to come in the next few days — with Grant Koch heading up to take Bart’s place on the roster.
