Let customers speak for us
from 218 reviewsThis workshop was run by Trudi - what a delightful inspiring person. Full of knowledge - and help.
So encouraging and patient- a thousand thank you’s. You have inspired a new hobby - I couldn’t be more grateful.
The space and people are just a complete delight.
Thank you “Wool on the Exe” I will be back !
I have only made a simple scarf with crochet before attending Verity’s class, and I was a definitely the “bottom of the class kid” during my first course at Wool on the Exe. That said, Verity explained how to make a granny square in the most simple of terms, that I grasped the concept quite confidently. I hope she will be involved in more classes, even if that forces her up from Cornwall! I would 100% attend her classes again. Be confident, you can succeed under her tuition.
Jackie was so helpful , showing me how to pick up stitches along a v neck, helping to decipher the pattern and advising on an alternative method. She also gave me other general tips for my knitting. She is very knowledgeable and I cannot recommend this session enough!
A few years ago I ordered O'Leary and Murhy wool scarves for family for Christmas. They are beautiful. I later Pedersen 2 sweaters for myself. Absolutely love them. Now I'm looking forward to the Christmas gifts. Great craftsmen. Thank you.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Sam for her brilliant instructions, patience and humour on the learn to crochet sessions over the past 2 weeks.
I have learned a lot and am now excited to join some of the next steps classes. Especially interested in the possible introduction to amigurumi sessions.
Thanks to Jackie for an excellent class today. I've been knitting for years but Jackie gave lots of hints and tips about achieving a more professional finish, especially for picking up extra stitches for bands and collars
I took this workshop to challenge myself. I have done several workshops at Wool on the Exe over the last year and have loved every one of them. I have grown in confidence enormously. I would never have thought it possible that I could master the art of entrelac knitting. Debbie was very patient and explained everything carefully. She had time for everyone on the course and was more than happy to rectify mistakes! I always feel as though I have achieved something at the end of every course I have attended and am now being asked to make items for other people who have seen the things I have made. I thoroughly recommend these courses to anyone who feels they would never be able to do it. Trust me, you will!
This was really informative, and the pattern will be so adaptable for future sock projects.
I came away from the class with a lovely little micro-sock, and the inspiration to try a full size pair!
On Friday 8 December 2023 I did the Sock 101 Workshop with Deb, and four other participants. It was a fantastic experience. The workshop was very well-organized (it started and ended on time, all materials were well organised and in place prior to starting), Deb was extremely knowledgeable and patient. While I've knitted socks before I wasn't ever totally happy with them. I learned how to overcome the laddering issue that had bugged me for years, and I learned the correct placement/distribution of stitches on the set of double-pointed needles that is central for getting a great end result. I appreciated the friendly, supportive environment, and the high quality written materials we were given to take home. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone interested in learning to knit socks, or who knits socks but want to improve their end result. Thank you Deb for a wonderfully educational and enjoyable workshop.
Being a new knitter I thought this might be partly too advanced for me but it is a brilliant workshop taken at a pace where everyone (even me) understood the techniques. This is invaluable information and Jackie is very patient! Highly recommended even for a seasoned knitter who can learn new techniques.
My daughter came down to pick some yarn for me to knit into mittens as a gift for one of her friends. Sadly what she wanted wasn’t available any more and Debbie helped her choose this yarn. The colour ( tweed imps) is gorgeous, it is lovely to knit with giving lovely stitch definition. It is soft as well. Sent daughter a picture of just the ribbing and she is so pleased. I have a feeling they may not be given to her friend after all! I had to break the news that I think she had the last skein.
Yes, it is pricey but well worth it! ❤️
Fyberspates' Vivacious DK Superwash Merino Wool is the most beautiful yarn I've ever knitted with. As a superwash yarn it is lusciously soft and squishy so can be worn against even highly sensitive skin. I love the colour range it comes in, from the saturated bright colours of yellow, orangey red and orange to the muted, subtly shaded greys, greens and blues. This yarn gives beautiful stitch definition. It is a joy to knit with. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to knit a double knit item.
I like to try new things, I saw Brioche knitting being offered and thought I’d give it a whirl. Excellent tutor, with a lot of patience. The Brioche effect is stunning especially when worked in two colours. I struggled with the two colours but the tutor was very encouraging. The peaceful surroundings help me to concentrate……and also to decide what beautiful yarn I would like to get my hands on. 😀
All in all a course well worth doing. The effect is wonderful and possibilities could be endless. Hats, scarves and blankets….
I've just knitted a modern aran style jumper for my son in this - mainly double moss stitch, with some cabling. It was fabulous to knit with - really good quality with no knots part way through the skein and a lovely tweed. The stitches are clear but soft and the drape is great. Lovely vibrant colours too. Highly recommend!
I participated in this workshop and it was fantastic. I have some Tunisian crochet patterns I wanted to try but was really intimidated by so when I saw this course available I booked myself on it.
There were 5 of us and it was a really enjoyable two hours. All of the materials were provided and the handout was really informative. The tutor Sam was super friendly and the pace of her delivery was brilliant. She was really patient and spent plenty of time explaining everything as many times as each individual needed.
I really enjoyed the class and I feel ready to tackle those patterns that have been waiting for me.
