Our Top 8 BBCOR Bats of 2024
THE BAT BRO SCALE is our rating system for BBCOR bats.
Due to BBCOR restrictions, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT BAT. Between power, sweet spot, and swing weight, every bat is going to have to compromise in at least one category.
1) Louisville Slugger Atlas BBCOR
The Atlas is the best bat for the majority of BBCOR hitters. Super easy to get through the zone, a very forgiving barrel for a 1-piece, great on mis-hits, and it has hit some of our highest exit velos ever.
While this bat might be a touch too balanced for the big D1 power-hitters, this is the perfect high-school hitter's BBCOR bat. You can think of the Atlas as a slightly heavier-swinging Voodoo One with a bigger sweet spot.
Wood Bat Turn Model Comparison: t141 / c271
2) Warstic Bonesaber Hybrid BBCOR
The Warstic Bonesaber Hybrid is probably the single most well-rounded bat in all of BBCOR. It's one of the lightest-swinging 2-pc hybrids in BBCOR, the sweet spot is super forgiving, the tapered no-knob handle feels great, and the exit velos speak for themselves.
This bat is nearly perfect, but the no-knob handle might not be suitable for everyone. It can be somewhat difficult to control and difficult to get used to.
Wood Bat Turn Model Comparison: Lindy12 / WS35
3) Rawlings Icon BBCOR
For the first time ever, we have a $500 composite bat near the top of our BBCOR rankings... it's a tough pill to swallow, but the Rawlings Icon has given us no choice.
The Rawlings Icon has won exit velo tests against the Glowstick Quatro, Voodoo One, The Goods, CatX, and Atlas. This is probably the best composite BBCOR we've ever swung.
Wood Bat Turn Model Comparison: i13 / AP5
4) Louisville Slugger Select Pwr BBCOR
One of the biggest sweet spots in all of BBCOR. You can think of the Select Pwr as a lighter-swinging "The Goods" with a tiny bit less pop. The Select Pwr has an incredibly comfortable feel on contact and you'll immediately notice its unique composite-esque sound. This is one of the most popular bats in D1 college baseball - and for good reason.
Wood Bat Turn Model Comparison: i13 / RA13
5) Rawlings Clout AI BBCOR
The Clout AI is the best 1-piece BBCOR that Rawlings has ever made. This bat is super similar to the Atlas, but it is geared slightly more towards a power hitter.
The Clout is one of only 4 BBCOR bats that Will has hit 109 MPH exit velo with.
Wood Bat Turn Model Comparison: i13 / Lindy12
6) Marucci CatX Connect BBCOR
The 2-piece CatX Connect is one of the most versatile BBCORs in baseball. The swing weight is very light for a 2-pc hybrid, and it has a very forgiving sweet spot (especially towards the hands).
This is the closest thing we've ever seen to a "2-piece Hybrid Contact-Hitting Bat".
Wood Bat Turn Model Comparison: t141 / RA13
7) DeMarini The Goods BBCOR
The DeMarini "The Goods" is probably most popular bat in college baseball. It has one of the best sweet spots in BBCOR and the ball absolutely jumps off of this bat. The Goods is a somewhat difficult bat to swing/control, so it pairs better with stronger/advanced hitters.
The Goods would very possibly be a Top-5 ranked BBCOR bat if it wasn't for the durability issues. The 2-piece connection joint has been a liability over the last few years...
Wood Bat Turn Model Comparison: c243 / TS28
8) Stinger Nuke 3 BBCOR
The budget alternative to "The Goods".
The Stinger Nuke 3 is as pure of a "power bat" as there is. Endloaded, thin handle, big sweet spot, tons of juice, and a super satisfying "crack" sound off of the barrel.
Wood Bat Turn Model Comparison: c243 / TS28
BBCOR BUDGET PICK: COMBAT B2 ATB - $200
The Combat "B2 ATB" was the winner of our "Best BBCOR for $150 or less" video. This 1-piece composite is actually just a repaint of the 2020 Easton Maxum 360 - which is a perfect fit for a younger contact hitter. It's super light swinging, it has a forgiving sweet spot for how light it is, but it still has better pop than most composite BBCOR bats out there.
Make sure you break it in with at least 150+ BP swings. This will help increase the pop of the bat, but it will also make the sweet spot feel a lot better.
BBCOR BUDGET PICK: TRUE HZRDUS - $120
'True Temper' closed its doors in 2022 and merged with 44Pro... but they have a ton of their old bats left over for SUPER cheap.
The HZRDUS was True's "1-piece Hybrid" BBCOR bat - it looks like a standard 1-pc alloy, but it has the flex/forgiveness of a 2-piece bat. The swing weight is a slight endload, the sweet spot is huge, and the sound/feel on contact is super satisfying. Additionally, the HZRDUS is available in half-inch sizes.
Our Top 3 USSSA Bats of 2024
A good broken-in composite USSSA bat will usually outperform any alloy/aluminum USSSA bat. The primary benefit of swinging an alloy bat in USSSA is that they are more durable than their composite counterparts.
1) EASTON HYPE FIRE USSSA
UPDATE: Perfect Game has officially suspended the DROP 5 Easton Hype Fire from all PG events. (we told you it was hot)
The Hype Fire absolutely shattered our previous exit velo record of 116 mph... with multiple hits at 120+ mph. This is probably the single hottest bat in the history of USSSA... but it's also one of the more fragile bats out there.
With the -5 version: DO NOT use this bat in BP. This is definitely a "gamer only". But as is common with Easton, the -8 and -10 versions of the Hype Fire are noticeably more durable and require a bit of break-in.
2-pc Composite | $350
SWING WEIGHT: slight endload
2) RAWLINGS ICON USSSA
You can think of the 2024 Rawlings Icon as the "balanced-swinging Hype Fire". Aside from the swing-weight difference, the drop 5 (-5) Icon is a tad less hot and a tad more durable than the Hype Fire -5... but the -8 and -10 Icons are noticeably hotter out of the wrapper than the -8 and -10 Hype Fires. So if you want that "Hype Fire effect" in -8 and -10, go with the Icon... if you want that "Hype Fire effect" in -5, go with the Hype Fire.
2-pc Composite | $350
SWING WEIGHT: balanced
3) EASTON ENCORE HYBRID USSSA
The Easton Encore is the only bat in USSSA with a legitimate alloy/composite hybrid barrel. The Encore's "CompCore" technology runs a composite wall along the inside of the bat's alloy shell - resulting in a bat that is hotter than any other USSSA alloy bat, but is more durable than most USSSA composite bats. The Encore is a perfect durable/cold-weather alternative to the Hype Fire.
2-pc Hybrid | $180
SWING WEIGHT: slight endload
Our Top 3 USA Baseball Bats of 2024
"USA Baseball" is the new bat standard for Little League, Cal Ripken, and PONY leagues. These bats are much less hot than their "USSSA" counterparts.
The performance standard is very similar to BBCOR, so you can essentially think of USA bats as "light BBCOR bats". Due to this, you'll see that our top USA bat list closely mirrors our top BBCOR bat list. Similarly to BBCOR, composite USA composite bats don't really offer any performance advantage over alloy & hybrid USA bats. The "2-piece Hybrid" construction really seems to be the best-performing category in the USA space.
1) LOUISVILLE SLUGGER SELECT PWR USA
The Select Pwr USA is probably the best USA Baseball bat that has been released since the beginning of USA bats in 2018. The sweet spot is legitimately reminiscent of a USSSA bat.
2-pc Hybrid | $300
Comes in -10, -8, & -5.
SWING WEIGHT: Slight Endload
2) WARSTIC BONESABER HYBRID USA
The USA Bonesaber Hybrid is the lightest-swinging USA 2-piece Hybrid on the market, and really offers everything you could ask for in a USA bat: balanced swing weight, great exit velos, and a much better-feeling barrel than most other USA bats. It's one of the few USA bats that doesn't really "feel like a USA bat" when you hit with it.
2-pc Hybrid | $250
Comes in -10, -8, & -5
SWING WEIGHT: Balanced
3) WARSTIC BONESABER 1-PC USA
Yes, Warstic has 2 of the best 3 USA bats 😳. The Bonesaber 1-piece is one of the lightest-swinging USA bats on the market, and it has a noticeably more responsive barrel than most other 1-piece alloy USA bats. AND it is surprisingly dent-resistent.
1-pc Alloy | $200
Comes in -11 only.
SWING WEIGHT: Balanced
The Pine Tar we use: KRAKEN
The stickiest tar in the game.
The OG Kraken 'Grip Stick' is what we use for the majority of the year, but we switch to the Kraken 'Death Grip' Spray in more extreme weather conditions (when it's either really hot or raining/wet outside).
The BG's we use: FRANKLIN
Our go-to model is the Powerstrap Infinite Series ($70), but the $30 to $40 CFX Pro is by far the best bang-for-your-buck batting glove in the industry.
Durable, affordable, and incredibly comfortable.
