2-Gun with challenging stages with @slampat

Well run match and can’t wait to take another crack at this. Just like a first fight, first match in a new discipline is like drinking from a firehose (aside from taking a hot 5.56 shell to the face 😆) in terms of the value and information gained.

Thanks @marlogamora @ki11akev_ @daryl_luv Team GRMTAC for the support and great input.

Living in a “nice area” is a circumstance not a plan. Walking around with Pollyanna mentality is a quick way to fail the mission to protect yourself and your family. And you might fantasize about deescalating with a criminal, but you can’t negotiate with animals.

Thanks to @regiment_blades for creating such a solid and practical tool.

Do you have a defensive countermeasure and a plan?

May knockdown steel. Had some clicks with no bang and now it’s time to diagnose. Pistol? Ammo? TBD.

National @policedefense Foundation Annual Gala. Team GRMTAC was honored to host Darius Mayfield @darius4america and cast our full support for his 2025 seat in the 12th Congressional district here in NJ.

We encourage everyone to support @darius4america and his goals to build and protect communities in New Jersey through thoughtful dialogue and meaningful action.

As always, we support the National Police Foundation, because the answer to improving law enforcement’s relationship with the public happens by supporting quality officers and training with our resources. Withdrawing our support and dollars only lowers the bar. We want the best of the best policing our communities.

Custom training targets drop this Monday at 12pm EST. Featuring reduced feedback black B7 Square, 1” zeroing squares (located 1.9” apart to provide a 50 yard rifle zero reference at 10 yards), center logo to encourage target focus (don’t get lost staring at your red dot), six shot plate rack for custom callouts, and standard USPSA headbox A/C/D zones.

Available in packs of 25 and shipped in cylindrical mailer. That’s right- no more finding rubber bands or having targets shredded en route to the range. You’re welcome.

Had a great meeting today at OA Defense headquarters. I was able to see some of what they have planned for the near future and the needle will definitely be moved.

OA Defense is professional and passionate about what they do and we are here to support them; not only as friends, but as an innovative business offering more and different value to the defense market.

Transition and the “check drill” vs immediate action. Is action to clear a bad round viable? Is it faster and more effective to scrap the primary? What is the frequency of rifle failure that necessitates consistent transition drills?

I didn’t find a significant time difference between any of the remedies. The major difference was that with immediate action, I still had a working primary and secondary firearm available.

GET OUT >>> GET ON TARGET

You never get a second chance at a first impression. Or a first shot. Dry fire: fast draw to target acquisition with proper grip is key.

Live fire: If the draw/grip can support 3 highly accurate shots without adjustment, it’s likely sustainable. Six shots (bill drill) even better.

TARGET // FOCUS

Working speed: 7 meter bill drill. First run was fast trash. Accuracy was NOT gained by slowing down on the second run. Simply did a better job of remaining focused on the small spot in the A-zone where rounds should go.

2nd USPSA match in the books. Moderate performance, but this was more a familiarization than anything else. Stage planning doesn’t exist in knockdown steel, so a step outside the comfort zone. It’s important to keep pushing and testing.

<< RETURN OF THE X5>>

Tired of minor errors with the Staccato P, back to the training ground with it until the kinks are fully removed. Meanwhile, the Lockdown X5 Legion with @parkermountainmachine dual comp is the gun with which I have more reps and a reflexive relationship. LFG

FAIL >> ASSESS >> GO FASTER

3-hit drill working increasing speeds. 6 inch steel at 10 meters. 1- immediate sight picture is required. If it’s not there, the rep is abandoned. 2- continue to increase speed until a miss, then diagnose the issue and attempt to match same speed with hits.

Eventually a point is reached where the issue is known, but cannot yet be corrected. There is no “slow down and get your hits”. Imagine being on a staircase and the steps behind you disappear as you advance. There is only one way to go: up.

RIP Carl Weathers. As a kid, he was so memorable: the first unapologetically Black man I ever saw on screen portrayed as not only a great athlete, but a savvy and smart business man with charm and charisma and a WIFE.

Some of you may not realize that most of the Marvel and DC comic writers who attended college back in the day only knew Black men from afar- the football players- scholarship athletes who were perpetually single and chasing women. That was their only point of reference and it’s how we ended up with characters like the Black Falcon, Blade, Black Lightning, the Living Monolith and later Chapel, Icon, Sentinel. Always strong, lone men with no family, no grounding and no attachments. [Spawn was a singular exception]

In contrast, Carl Weathers’ Apollo Creed was a fully developed character with a real life. He showed that a man could be great in every way; that being a phenomenal physical talent could handshake with superior intellect and business intelligence. I aspired to be those things too.

I took the opportunity two years ago to message Carl and thank him for his impact on me and others. I’m glad I got the chance to thank him while he was with us.

Thank you again, Carl. We will remember you. 🙏🏽

2024 is the Year of the Kaiju.

We will be highlighting the friends, family and training partners that helped GRMTAC make it to the 10 year mark. There are a lot of people to honor.

This all started with an idea: brand big, be relentlessly professional, but stay agile and offer the service of an independently owned business. Education, hardware and apparel.

So what is huge, but agile and can move through water or over land at 200mph? GODZILLA.

[more to come]
