Set against the tumultuous backdrop of France in the early- to mid-19th Century, Les Mis tells the story of Jean Valjean, a fugitive given a second chance at life thanks to the grace of a benevolent bishop, but doggedly pursued by the monomaniacal Inspector Javert.
